Hello World by Hive Curates
An exhibition and open studios produced and curated by Hive Curates.
Hive Curates delivered an open studios event and exhibition entitled ‘HELLO WORLD’ which took place 7th October 2023. The event showcased the work of its resident artists, reflecting the cultural diversity and range of artistic disciplines as a studio collective, ranging from painting, sculpture, photography, performance, fashion, jewellery and installation art. Creative workspaces like Hive Curates represent the future of our emerging creative industries. This event sought to celebrate the cohort of artists for 2023 that will go on to shape and influence Enfield’s growing art scene. The event offered the community to meet our artists, designers and curators, take part in a free workshop, enjoy live performances and food.
The HELLO WORLD exhibition aimed to transcend boundaries and foster positive change by asking us to consider how we could reduce waste positively in our everyday lives. A series of objects were exhibited that have been restored through community workshops delivered by Huren Marsh, a designer/maker, lecturer and installation artist who has a background in furniture and lighting design. Titled ‘Repair, Restore, Reuse’, the series of workshops were centred around recycling and reducing waste by ‘rescuing’ broken, unwanted or discarded furniture and giving them a new lease of life through thoughtful and creative restoration in the Makers Yard.
Featured artists: Clara Frain-Atallah, Chantelle Purcell, Georgia Ghaznavi, Hannah Pittman, Henrique J Paris, Huren Marsh, Iga Bielawska, Jenni Allen, Jo de Banzie, Kim Boafo, Mark Beattie, Sarah Larby and Theo Ahim.
The open studios had 82 attendees.
The exhibition had approximately 200 visitors over its 2 week run.
13 artists were supported as part of the project.
6 local residents work was displayed.
