Launch of 'Under a Jet Plane Sky'

  • Angel Gardens Rays Road London, England, N18 2NX United Kingdom (map)

Please join us for the launch of a new public artwork for Angel Gardens, Edmonton. ‘Under the Jet Plane Sky’ by local ceramic artist Owen Wall which has been created as part of the Festival of Industry programme. Under The Jet Plane Sky is a celebration of the quiet determination of small-scale creative industry that exists within the borough of Enfield today.

Owen worked with Edmonton arts organisation Doodle Designs to deliver workshops with children and young people from Aylward Academy, Woodpecker and Churchfield Schools, and Exodus Youth Worx in which participants had the chance to make their own tile-artworks using the wax resist technique. The workshops inspired the creation of the final tiles which were handmade and glazed using the same technique in Owen’s studio. The artwork is installed on a WW2 anti-tank block situated in the gardens, which also provides the opportunity to share the history of this structure.

We would like to invite you to celebrate the launch of this new artwork, and to join us for a further celebration in Fore Street: the launch of ‘An Angel for Edmonton’ – another new public artwork curated by local residents through the Curate Enfield public art programme.
